Vacation in Barbados Part 2

East Coast – Barbados

Today we’re visiting the East Coast in Barbados where the East Point Lighthouse is located as well as some of the most stunning coastal views on the island, there are several small bays located below but swimming is not recommended as there are strong currents and its not easily accessible.

After we took in the amazing views, we dropped by the stunning East Point Grill Restaurant and Bar located a mere 5mins drive away. This outdoor restaurant offers stunning views, delicious food, great vibes and friendly people. Its more laid back type atmosphere which is great for everyone including families with kids. To me this is a “Bajan” bar, very local, very friendly and everyone greets each other like long lost friends. I loved it here!

So we decided to eat and have some drinks and we started with Fish Cakes and listen you cannot go Barbados and not try Fish Cakes ok? You MUST try this local delicacy :), Grilled Whole Snapper, local “Pudding & Souse with Pickled Breadfruit” which is Saturday staple and consists of pickled pork, pudding and yummy breadfruit and you have to get there early as the “souse” finishes fast!, BBQ Chicken with fries and of course lots of “Banks” beers!.

Prices for Food ranges between $4.00 to $45.00 EC (roughly $2.00 to $22.00 US) and Drinks are very reasonable starting at $3.00 EC ($1.50 US) for beers and up to $20.00 EC ($10.00 US) for the spirits and liquors.

So after a couple drinks, a lot of food, good company and great music (did I mention they have an in house DJ?), we had a fabulous time in the East Coast and although sad to leave we said our goodbyes and started our trek back to the South Coast.

Its definitely worth a visit next time your in Barbados!
